Dana Siford has been with the Pine-Richland School District since May 2003.
She began as assistant business manager and was promoted to Business Manager and most recently as director of Finance & School Services in 2010.
She has helped the district in many facets including: Implementing a new
software program which integrated payroll, human resources, benefits, financial
accounting, purchasing, fixed asset management and miscellaneous billing.
She helped manage multiple
variable rate swap financing transactions and monitor compliance and cash flow and with developing and
maintaining a comprehensive construction project cost model.
She has helped with implementing a supply
ordering system to provide the staff with flexibility in placing orders,
eliminating the inefficiency of the bid list process and eliminating the need
to manage and store most district-wide bulk purchases. Siford also helped develop a fiscal
year-end audit documentation manual and establishing a
procurement card system to provide for flexibility in payment of transactions
and developed internal control procedures and guidelines accordingly.
She also has helped with:
Restructuring internal
controls within the business office to comply with governmental auditing
standards
Developing & evaluating
various service proposals including banking services, managing underwriter and
food service
Drafting & revising
various school board policies
Implementing a remote
deposit on site system to provide for timely deposits of district funds
Assisting in the
development of a comprehensive financial budget model
Prior to Pine-Richland,
Dana worked for Maher Duessel, Certified Public Accountants in Pittsburgh, PA from
1998 through April 2003 as an auditor. While an auditor, she:
Managed school
district, municipal & non-profit audit engagements
Analyzed & prepared financial statements and related disclosures for audit
clients
Developed & prepared recommendations for improvements to clients’ internal
control systems and accounting procedures
Prepared the annual financial report for submission to the Pennsylvania
Department of Education on behalf of school district audit clients
Prepared annual tax returns for non-profit audit clients
Evaluated federal expenditures for single audit engagements & tested federal compliance requirements
accordingly
